Transport and Disability
I have worked with Minister Shane Ross on Transport initiatives that support disability including a decrease in waiting time for public transport, increase in fines for illegal parking in disabled spaces and the introduction of members from the disabled community on boards of some state transport organisations.
I supported the Disabled Drivers of Ireland’s Operation Enable campaign and have raised awareness for this campaign by placing it on the agenda at meetings of the Joint Policing Committee and the Transport Committee.
I have also highlighted the need for better public transport facilities for people with disabilities. This included drawing attention to the plea by DLR citizen Seán O’Kelly for improvements on DART network.
